The power of breath! Along side of yogis and Pilates instructors bodyworkers/LMT’s are also wise to the ways and power of breath work. How deep belly breathing helps activate the parasympathetic nervous system. We practice this and felt the calm take over! We breath we meditate and let go! Fears of the pandemic and the affects of it has made it difficult to do this causing tension all around us. Anxiety which activated the sympathetic nervous system which triggers shallow breathing.. from there it’s a downward spiral! I have felt this twice in the past 5 months since this pandemic started. I sometimes have felt it in the middle of the night .. waking up in fear with the possibility of getting COVID. The second time I felt this was 2 weeks ago when I broke my wrist! I literally got so worked up from not only my body going into shock but thoughts racing in my head that I was not going to be able to work etc etc. Regardless of what I know, I could not slowdown my breathing ! This is a reminder no matter how much knowledge you have of breath work etc.. sometimes we all feel out of control! I just know that I’m not alone when it comes to this, we all experience this type of anxiety at some point in our lives..along with forgetting how to exhale! As we look forward to the future and realize this pandemic is not going away it makes me feel even stronger that need to get back to work... it is our livelihood and most people love what they do! Which is so important to be happy and healthy. Yes we need to always be present , be aware , and be safe going back to work ! Maybe If we can all just remember to breath with and without our masks then we can all ultimately begin the process of healing our bodies and mind. Its definitely time to get back to business... it helps us staying healthy and happy! For me I will have to wait a little longer.
